Strongest Programming To Date and Names of Note:
In addition to these strong sales reports, the fair had incredible programs for guests including a discussion with Paula Crown, Cristina Mittermeier (Intersect Aspen Art + Design’s Artist Award recipient of 2025) and Peter Waanders, President and CEO of Anderson Ranch. Cristina Mittermeier also hosted a panel on her environmental contributions which was also very well attended.

Heidi Zuckerman, Maryam Eisler and Carrie Scott hosted a panel discussion covering themes of the West, through the eyes of Maryam Eisler’s photography and book “WEST WEST.”

The Aspen panel featured Kiki Raj, Gallery Director of Baldwin Gallery, local artist Whit Boucher (represented by Aspen Collective), Topher Straus—who is fourth generation Coloradan—and Donna Isham, who is a frequent visitor to Aspen.

During the Crescendo Party on Saturday, August 2—which was a celebration of Intersect Aspen’s 15 years in Aspen—the knowledgeable sommeliers from The Little Nell hosted a wine tasting.

Music was celebrated throughout the fair with opening day music provided by Aspen Music Festival and DJ Mayfly. Saturday’s music featured Aspen Music Festival and Nick Hans.

About Intersect Aspen 2025:
Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair—an integral pillar of Aspen’s increasingly vibrant ArtWeek—continues to grow and presents the work from national and international galleries. Intersect Aspen fosters a dynamic convergence between distinguished artists, galleries, curators, collectors and visionaries from across the globe and the local art community.

Encompassing an expansive 16,000 square feet, Intersect Aspen transforms the Aspen Ice Garden into Aspen’s largest cultural canvas, providing an unparalleled gallery experience offering fair visitors an immersive journey through art and culture.

Programming and events delved deeper into the artwork of the more than 100 revered artists whose work was celebrated at the 2025 fair. Intersect Aspen was thrilled to present a diverse exhibition of art from four continents from around the world.

“Our expectations grew as the galleries, artists, works, programming and cultural partners began taking shape this year,” says Tim von Gal, CEO, Intersect Art + Design. “We are proud to report the sales, attendance and overall energy far exceeded our lofty projections. Start to finish - from a seamless, easy gallery move-in to the final day of the fair - it was an absolutely wonderful event.  We aspire to be a place where collectors find what they love and not a place where they are told what they should collect. The results clearly show we have achieved this goal. We continue to be overwhelmed by this community’s kind and generous response. With such success, the bar has been raised even higher for next year - and we love the work ahead to create an even more impactful event next year - July 28 - August 2, 2026 at the best exhibition facility in town, The Aspen Ice Garden.”

Intersect Aspen Art + Design Artist Award Recipient 2025: Cristina Mittermeier
Each year Intersect Aspen honors outstanding artists whose creativity, commitment and impact extend beyond the studio. The award celebrates not only the artistic excellence but the meaningful ways in which these individuals enrich and inspire the communities around them.

This year, Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair was honored to present the Intersect Aspen Art + Design Artist Award to photographer Cristina Mittermeier. Mittermeier’s photography has taken her all over the globe and she works tirelessly to share her striking artwork, with a deep purpose and drive to raise awareness about our environment. Mittermeier (represented by Hilton Contemporary) is trained in both marine science and fine art photography. She coined the term conservation photography and has pioneered the use of visual storytelling as a force for ecological and cultural preservation.

Intersect Aspen was proud to honor Mittermeier with this distinction, as she represents a continued focus on the Intersection of Art and The Environment—a key ongoing pillar of the fair’s programming.

“It is an honor to recognize the multi-dimensional and deep contributions Cristina Mittermeier has made to the world through her fascinating life journey and revealing the integrity of her core beliefs through her beautiful and thought-provoking work,” says Tim von Gal, CEO, Intersect Art + Design. “Her work is viscerally evocative in expressing full stories in a single image. Without intention, Cristina has added the category of fine art to her repertoire of extraordinary documentary photography. She has articulated and elicited a multitude of emotions frame by frame. We are incredibly grateful to her for being a part of this edition of Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair.”

Partnerships and Thank You to the Aspen community:
Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair is so grateful to all of our cultural partners and the community of Aspen, which has supported the fair for 15 years.

Intersect Aspen’s second year partner and beneficiary, Aspen Community Foundation (ACF) has been investing in a future where everyone from Aspen to Parachute has equitable opportunities to thrive. To ensure this potential is accessible to all, ACF actively listens and learns about the region’s challenges, connects nonprofit and community leaders advancing solutions, and partners with donors and funders to catalyze community-led change.

Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair was honored to be a sponsor of Aspen Community Foundation’s summer benefit on July 23 and the fair’s support of ACF will continue with all cash bar sales during the entire fair benefiting ACF.

Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair is pleased to continue to exhibit the work of Anderson Ranch Arts Center. As part of this collaboration, Anderson Ranch presented an exclusive selection of works from their renowned printshop studio.

Founded in 1966, Anderson Ranch Arts Center is a premier destination for art-making and critical dialogue, bringing together aspiring and internationally renowned artists to discuss and further their work in a stimulating environment. About Tim and Dirk von Gal, owners of Intersect Aspen Art + Design:
In 2021, Tim and Dirk von Gal relaunched Aspen’s annual art fair, Art Aspen, as Intersect Aspen Art and Design Fair. The brothers, who were born and raised in Greenwich, CT but both reside with their respective families in Georgia, both have an affinity for Aspen. Dirk worked as an Aspen ski instructor in the 1990s. And Tim has been a long-time visitor to Aspen. When they were presented with the opportunity to relaunch the summer art event, they were honored to take on the project and thus since, have given the fair new life and energy while expanding its programming.
