Intersect Aspen Returns July 28–August 1, 2026, Creating Meaningful Connections Between Collectors, Artists, Galleries, and Aspen’s Creative Community — Tickets Now on Sale
Aspen, CO - June 11, 2026 - Celebrating its 16th year, Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair, July 28–August 1, 2026, continues to evolve with its most expansive gallery presentations to date, bringing together leading local, national, and international galleries alongside artists, collectors, curators, and cultural voices from around the world. The 2026 fair will feature 38 gallery presentations of contemporary and modern art from around the globe.

Each year, thoughtfully curated presentations foster authentic connections—between artists, collectors, and the Aspen landscape. Each year, Intersect Aspen transformsthe Aspen Ice Garden into Aspen’s largest gallery setting. The 2026 edition will showcase ambitious installations, curated presentations, and a week of artist-focused talks, tours, and collaborations with Aspen’s leading arts organizations—creating a distinctive experience defined by exceptional art, thoughtful dialogue, and creative exchange.
Intersect Aspen is proud to honor Aspen Community Foundation as its primary beneficiary once again this year. New this year, select artworks will contribute 15 percent of proceeds to support the foundation’s work in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Intersect Aspen Art + Design 2026 Artist Awards Announced:
Intersect Aspen will honor Paul Nicklen and Jay Kelly as recipients of the 2026 Intersect Aspen Artist Awards during the Opening Day Celebration on Tuesday, July 28. The awards recognize artists whose work expands creative perspectives, inspires dialogue, and reflects the power of art to shape how audiences connect with the world around them.
Nicklen, an internationally acclaimed photographer, filmmaker, and conservationist, has dedicated his career to using visual storytelling as a catalyst for awareness and connection to the natural world. Through his powerful imagery, Nicklen bridges art and advocacy, inviting audiences to experience some of the planet’s most remote and fragile environments.
Kelly’s intricate collage practice transforms found imagery into layered compositions that explore memory, nostalgia, and visual storytelling. Through careful reconstruction and juxtaposition, his work creates new narratives from existing materials, reflecting the ways images shape personal and collective experience.
Artists Attending Intersect Aspen 2026:Dean West — A contemporary photographer and visual artist known for cinematic, highly constructed imagery that blends photography, storytelling, and digital composition.
Paul Nicklen — Intersect Aspen Artist Award recipient and an internationally acclaimed photographer, filmmaker, conservationist, Nicklen is a globally celebrated National Geographic contributor whose powerful images of the polar regions and wildlife have shaped conversations around climate and conservation.
Cristina Mittermeier — A renowned photographer, marine conservationist, and co-founder of SeaLegacy, recognized globally for her work connecting visual storytelling with environmental advocacy.
Jay Kelly — Intersect Aspen Artist Award recipient Jay Kelly will be in attendance, bringing his distinctive collage practice to the fair. Kelly creates pieces that reflect a deep relationship between material and the natural world.
Paula Crown — A multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, drawing, video, and public art, exploring themes of human impact, technology, environment, and the relationship between the natural and built worlds.
Donna Isham and Mark Isham — Donna Isham's presentation at Intersect Aspen debuts Gaze, a new immersive installation that merges painting, projected light, sound, and original music from an acclaimed composer, Mark Isham, into a contemplative sensory environment.
Representing The Colorado Connection, presented by Red Brick Center for the Arts, Whit Boucher, Kinga Czerska, John Doyle and Topher Straus will be in attendance throughout Intersect Aspen. Additional confirmed visiting artists include: Robert Bristow, Caroline PM Jones, Russ Connell, Mick Burson, Claire Cusack, Cybele Rowe, Deasa Turner, Odile Jacottarte, Rex Wilder, Simon Bull, Bekah Bull and KURZ.
Intersect Aspen is also proud to welcome Carrie Scott—founder of Seen, a next-generation art consultancy that is committed to bringing transparency to the art world—to the fair this year. Scott is an English-American curator, gallery director, TV presenter, and art writer based in London who will be leading panels and generating relevant content throughout the fair.
Programming themes, including a heightened emphasis on Photography:
In addition to the following themes—The R/Evolution of Art and Technology, Art as a Catalyst for Positive Social Consciousness, The Art of our Natural World, Art and the Aspen Community—Photography will be a defining focus of the 2026 fair, highlighting artists who use the medium to explore nature, identity, storytelling, and the human experience. Through gallery presentations, artist conversations, and partnerships with organizations including Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Intersect Aspen celebrates photography’s ability to capture perspective, inspire dialogue, and deepen our connection to the world around us.
Intersect Aspen unveils new and expanded programming:
Intersect Aspen will present their most robust programming offered to the community to date. Below is a list of confirmed program highlights with more events and discussions to be announced closer to the fair:
VIP Preview & Reception: July 28, 2–5 p.m.
Including the unveiling and presentation of the Intersect Artist Awards, honoring Paul Nicklen and Jay Kelly as the Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair Artists of 2026.
General Admission Opening: July 28, 5–7 p.m.
The Opening Day reception will also feature performances by DJ Mayfly.
Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies Tour: July 28, 12:30–1:30 p.m.
A guided tour exploring Herbert Bayer’s lasting influence on art and design.
Work in Progress: The Practice of Return with Leo Marmol: July 29, 2–3 p.m.
Leo Marmol, FAIA, of Marmol Radziner, reflects on creativity as an ongoing practice of making, discovery, and meaning.
Red Brick Center for the Arts: July 30, 10–10:45 a.m.
Aspen’s creative home invites guests for coffee, light treats, and an exhibition exploring infinity by four Colorado artists. With 10 artist studios, visitors can meet artists and experience Aspen’s arts community firsthand.
Aspen Film Screening: July 30, 6:30 p.m.
In partnership with Aspen Film, Intersect Aspen is honored to host a film screening of “Time and Other Materials” by Amy Knox, followed by a Q&A at the Isis Theatre. “Time and Other Materials” is a 60-minute documentary exploring the creative processes and inner lives of five prominent Colorado women artists: Rebecca DiDomenico, Stacey Steers, Martha Russo, Ana María Hernando, and Kim Dickey. Produced by Amie Knox and Chad Herschberger, it dives into their unique mediums, from animation and ceramics to large-scale sculpture.

About Tim and Dirk von Gal, owners of Intersect Aspen Art + Design:
In 2021, Tim and Dirk von Gal relaunched Aspen’s annual art fair, Art Aspen, as Intersect Aspen Art + Design Fair. The brothers are from Connecticut and now reside in Georgia. Both have a deep affinity for Aspen. Dirk worked as an Aspen ski instructor in the 1990s and Tim has been a long-time visitor to Aspen. When they were presented with the opportunity to relaunch the summer art event, they were honored to take on the project and have since given the fair new life and energy while expanding its programming.
